Tasting Notes: Nose: Buttery sponge, syrup-soaked oats, sawdust, and peppery spice with crisp toasted oak, cereal, and an almost mineral vibrancy.
Palate: Fluffy vanilla souffle is followed quickly by a splash of warming spice as it goes down, soon mellowed by more creamy grain and soft apricot.
Finish: Butterscotch rests beside sweet orange zest with warming notes of brandy butter bringing brilliant balance to rich charred, peppery oak spice.
About: This is a Single Grain Scotch Whisky from the North British Distillery. North British was established in 1885 to challenge the monopoly that Distiller's Company held over grain whisky production. Grain whisky is vital to the scotch industry, with most of the production being used in Blended Scotch Whisky. So it is rare to have a Single Cask bottling of North British.
