Bardstown Bourbon Company has been making big waves the last few years with their Fusion and Discovery Series, and even more this year with the release of their Origin Series. Boy were we excited to pick this one back in January, and even more excited to be one of the first groups to bring you one of their high-rye bourbon single barrels, bottled at cask strength.
Coming in a 6 years old and 128.6 proof, this barrel is full of maple, salted toffee, shortbread cookies, ripe red fruits and melon, slightly effervescent floral qualities, and orange infused simple syrup both nose and palate. Don't let those sweeter notes fool you - it picks up cascading baking spices, vanilla bean, and toasted wood through continuing sips. The finish is lingering and sticky on the gums. We think it is quite the treat, and we hope you do too.
