Grand Traverse Distillery set out with the goal of distilling a Premium American rye whiskey the way their forefathers did prior to prohibition. Ole George Whiskey is distilled from a 100% rye mash bill and is bottled at 93 proof. Rye's spicy flavor is unique from any other grain. Ole George Whiskey is unique because it is bottled straight from the barrel. Grand Traverse does not chill filter any of their whiskeys or bourbons. Chill filtering removes fatty acids from the whiskey which can remove flavor. 

Grand Traverse Distillery is a hands-on distillery. The distillers mill-in from local grain. They make cuts by taste. They're mashing before dawn and blending after sunset. Only when a batch exceeds their standard do they bottle it themselves. Countless hours and unparalleled attention go into every proof gallon of their products.
