Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7-Year Single Barrel Rye - Selected by Seelbach's

Regular price $49.99 Sale

Age: 7-Years

Proof: 120 proof

Mashbill: 95/5 Rye/Malted barley

Tasting Notes: Give this a few minutes in the glass and you’ll see why we’ve been saying rye whiskey is having a year. Perfumed citrus and loads of brown sugar, this is like an old fashioned with expressed lemon peel.

The palate is bright and vibrant, leading the way with tropical fruit cocktail before lemon peel, clove, and white pepper. It’s both creamy and nipping, a pleasant treat for those who like rye but could lean either way on the sweet vs spiced side.

The finish is long and buttery. Oak makes itself known, but lingering citrus and baking spices are the primary trailing qualities here.

About the product: Old Scout is our family of sourced whiskies and we’re big fans of this style of rye from Indiana. When we bring the casks back to West Virginia we cherry pick our favorites to make the cut for our Rye Single Barrel Releases. Every cask is as unique as a snowflake, or a fingerprint, or the personalities at the distillery. One thing that’s for certain, though; we take our selecting of the best of what’s available of this famous high-rye mashbill very seriously. Way more seriously than we take ourselves, we promise.
