Barrel #: M5-001
Age: 6 Year, 2 Months (6 Month Maple Finish)
Proof: 116.2
Mash bill: 70/21/9
Tasting Notes: The nose is definitely more barrel focused than finish focused. Pecan pralines with whiffs of campfire smoke and sweet oak.
Deep and resonate - this one leans rich with traditional brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla notes with growing smoked baking spices. The sweetness creeps back in the finish, lingering and slow with toasted sugars growing more chewy. Strong oak, chocolatey barrel char, a bit of dark cherry and dark maple - not all unlike a smoked maple old fashioned.
The finish is long lasting, again with this back and forth from toasted sugar notes and spiced and smoked barrel char notes, with dried cherry and sweet oak continuing on. A punchy, maple-kissed bourbon for those looking for a bit more balance between savory and sweet.
Bottle count: 216 bottles
Seelbach's Story: Originally formed in 2015 as a small group of bourbon enthusiasts in Atlanta, GA, the Shortbarrel name has since become synonymous with top-notch quality. Handpicked with great care, only barrels that meet their group’s exacting standards proudly bear the name. They spent several years on countless barrel-picking adventures, but fast forward to 2020 Shortbarrel was born, and in early 2021, they first hit shelves in Georgia.
They've only continued to pick up momentum since, and as previously stated it has been difficult to keep them in stock here at Seelbach's. Today we have a 6-year, 2-month Kentucky Bourbon that was finished 6 of those months in toasted and maple syrup barrels.
