What is Oloroso Sherry: Oloroso Sherry is a rich, dark, dry, and fully oxidatively aged style of sherry from the Jerez region of southern Spain. It’s known for its deep color, powerful aroma, and nutty, warm flavor profile.
Tasting Notes: The nose showcases plenty of softer, cigar box-esque wood notes that sit more forward than the cask finishing, while still not forgetting some drier, fragrant red fruit and citrus punch-like touches. Gentle tannins, aromatic vanilla, and a reserved sweetness round it out.
The palate begins damp but oak-driven, impressively mouthwatering, not with wine juice box-like fruit, but with the silky, indulgent, nutty, chocolatey fruitiness of high-hazelnut-percentage gianduja. It’s velvety and smooth, with a melt-in-your-mouth quality that feels almost more experiential than purely flavor-driven.
The finish adds waves of structured, sugar-topped fruit notes, moving from apricot to raspberry to tangerine to plum, while still leaving a bit of that hazelnut and chocolate film from the palate over each note as it slowly tapers off with a beautiful, fruit-kissed oakiness.

About K.LUKE Whiskey Company: K.LUKE Whiskey Company owner and master blender Jonathan Maisano made his first single barrel trip to Kentucky in the summer of 2014. Since then, he has tasted over 1,600 barrels and selected more than 400 to be deemed as Maisano Hand Select Single Barrels for retail. Jonathan is also a first level certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. He uses this extensive sensory training when evaluating aroma and flavor profiles in whiskey barrels as there are many similar traits in both wine and whiskey when searching for nuances. In 2024 Jonathan was named the Blender of the Year from the Barleycorn Awards.
