Age: 5-years-old
Proof: 114.99 proof
Mash bill: 95/5 Wheat/Malted Barley
Bottle Count: 210 bottles
Tasting Notes: Wheat presents in such a satisfying profile, these majority wheat mashbills from MGP are showing so well. I notice that compared to the Old Elk Wheat releases we've had, this barrel is showing much more oak, much more spice, much more balancing character against the sweetness of the wheat. Wheat shows here with butterscotch, brown butter, fresh caramel and a creme brulee / caramelized sugar profile on the nose. The palate is heavy and viscous, there's a prickle of ethanol and a punch of dry oak. Maple hangs around, butterscotch is present in spades and the finish is long, textured and full of honey, butter scotch, dry oak and a prickle of ethanol. It's bold, and despite the bonkers wheat content, devoid of the red hots cinnamon profile I don't enjoy in some wheaters with a capital W.
About: Aged for 5+ Years, it’s wheat whiskey in its most natural state, uncut and bottled at full barrel proof. Crafted to sip slowly and enjoy during life’s defining moments. Cheers!
