Tasting Notes: The nose is thick, potent, and fruit-filled right from the get go. The finish is prominent as strawberry, raspberry, grape engulf the palate with dense and buttery tannins and caramel continue.
The palate follows much like the nose - thick and coating fruits and tingling baking spices and tannin lay heavy on the tongue, giving a density to the bourbon that would otherwise be filled with spices. Where last years release may have been a bit more candied and spiced, this one is much more saturated and blanketing.
The finish is juicy and rich - continuing sweet-forward and desserty with a fruit smorgasbord and lingering with nipping oak and tannins.
About the product: K.LUKE Whiskey Company just bottled their second limited release Small Batch Keenan Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Finished Bourbon. This Bourbon is a small batch blend of Bourbon compiled of different ages and mash bills from distilleries in both Kentucky and Indiana, after the Maisano’s created the small batch, it was then secondary aged is fresh dumped Keenan Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon French and American Oak barrels for 8 months. Jennifer and Jonathan have been friends with Michael Keenan the owner / winemaker for over a decade. Michael produces less than 1000 cases of reserve Cabernet each year. This Bourbon has very limited availability and is only bottled once per year.
