Tasting Notes: Caramel, roasted peanuts and black pepper open up the nose. It slowly moves to a little bit of dried dark cherries and Frosted Flakes. The palate bounces between sweet, spice and nuttiness. It’s a long finish of black pepper and orange marmalade 

The Story: I knew we had to come out with something exciting for our first Seelbach's single barrel. If you haven't read the label, here's our mission for these releases. 

The beauty of a private program is its diversity of barrels. Seelbach’s has worked hard to acquire whiskey from multiple states and distillers. We’ve done this to provide an exclusive and unique experience for those that get to select a barrel. We have a motley collection of vetted private barrels. Certain barrels showcase notes of caramel and vanilla. Other similar aged barrels provide notes of oak and spice. This wide array of barrels highlights the elegance of bourbon. We’re proud to release these barrels to discerning enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The first single barrel is from Bardstown Bourbon Co. This is a distillery that means a lot to Seelbach's! We were their first retailer outside of the state of Kentucky. We love their approach to collaboration and how they make whiskey. This isn't a collaboration. But, we couldn't think of a better distillery to highlight with our first single barrel. This barrel was selected with a group of bourbon enthusiast/friends here in Jacksonville. Each year we host a bourbon tasting called the "Smoked Barrel". We celebrated our 6th annual tasting with this selection. That barrel is now available to Seelbach's enthusiast/friends.
