Mash Bill: 100% Jimmy Red Corn
Bottle Count: 163 bottles
Tasting Notes: Popping this bottle and taking the first pour reminds me exactly why I gravitated towards this sample in the first place.
The nose is incredibly rich from the rip - antique oak and perfumed fruits. If I didn’t know better I’d say this was 8-10 years old. Theres tons of cane sugar sweetness before saturating red apple and cranberry, gentle nips of spice and a sweet tobacco aroma continuing on.
The palate is gripping and viscous - first with spiced melon notes, then ripe red fruits, then nectary peach before a cascade of toasted vanilla bean sweetness. It’s slightly funky the longer it sits in the glass, continuing with subtle chocolate mousse and deep fruitiness with long lasting creaminess and pops of musty oak.
The finish brings pleasant warming oak notes combined with elegant layers of spice - making sure it isn’t too sweet nor too spicy. It lingers long and dry, but still giving up sweet oak and candied fruits well into the long finish.
