Tasting Notes: Very powerful yet approachable, it has notes of toffee, cocoa, and nutmeg on the nose, with an incredibly warm and robust palate that has hints of burnt orange, leather, and sweet oak.
Seelbach's Notes: The nose doesn’t show the proof at all. Toffee, orange candies, saturating and dense fig, cherry, and raisin, and sweet warming oak - fragrant and inviting.
The palate is robust and engulfing - rich date syrup, fig jam, dried cranberries, fresh coffee, expressed orange peel, leather and gobs of sweet oak.
The finish has a long, clinging Kentucky hug with trailing candied dark and dried fruits, leather, espresso, brown sugar syrup and lasting oak.
Product description: Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Rich Grain Distilling in Canton, Mississippi. David Rich founded the distillery to create a whiskey that reflected Mississippi’s hot, humid climate. Although the distillery closed in 2020, its whiskey continued to age in Mississippi, and it has achieved that original vision: a true Mississippi bourbon, born of the Deep South.
