Age: 9-years 7-months

Proof: 121 proof

Cask #362

Tasting Notes: The nose opens with cherries, brown sugar, candied pecans, and prunes. The palate transitions to deep elements of roasted orange peel, burnt sugar, and toasted coconut, with a complex overlay of vanilla and marshmallow sweetness. The full finale adds a lingering cocoa, nutmeg, and sweet spicy fruit framework.

About: Richland Rum is the only single-estate rum in the U.S. Richland grows their own sugarcane. They process it into cane syrup in-house. The cane syrup is then fermented and distilled all in downtown Richland, GA. It is a wonderful Agricole style rum and probably one of my favorite craft spirits.

This is the second barrel pick I've done from Richland. I approached this pick exactly as I did the first pick. I went in with an open mind. I didn't target a specific flavor profile. I knew I wanted something that you all would enjoy neat. And, I knew it had to appeal to a whiskey drinkers palate. I believe this barrel nailed it. It's a cask strength, unaltered, unfiltered rum that is full of flavor.

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest operating whiskey distillery, the first since Prohibition. Founded in 2010, Kings County uses New York grain and traditional distilling equipment to produce whiskey in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, just steps from the former waterfront distillery district and the legendary site of the 1860s Brooklyn Whiskey Wars. Every drop the distillery sells is made in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
