What Is Jurancon: “Jurançon is a wine region in South West France, located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, around the commune of Jurançon. It produces a dry white wine and a sweet white wine using grape varieties such as Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, and Courbu. Jurançon is one of the first wine appellations to obtain the French certification of Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée in 1936 for its sweet wine. Henri Ramonteu creates dry and sweet white wines from an exceptional terroir, the land of Domaine Cauhapé, between Biarritz and Lourdes, facing the Pyrenees in the heart of Bearn. The wines of Jurançon have a fruity, complex aroma and elegant golden color.” (thanks, Wikipedia!)

Tasting Notes: Rich on the nose, malt presents first with big baking spice notes, cocoa, honey, toffee and salted caramel up front. The palate is rich and viscous and Jurancon helps bring in a touch of sweet white grape, honey, fresh pastry, sweet pear and a hint of apple butter. It's such an opulent palate that's layered and easy to sit with for a good long while. The finish is mellow and complex, viscous and once again rich and full of sweet cream, malty cocoa, apple, almond, white grape and fresh honey and pastry.

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest operating whiskey distillery, the first since Prohibition. Founded in 2010, Kings County uses New York grain and traditional distilling equipment to produce whiskey in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, just steps from the former waterfront distillery district and the legendary site of the 1860s Brooklyn Whiskey Wars. Every drop the distillery sells is made in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
