Tasting Notes: I have one word next to this barrel on my selection sheet. "WERTHERS". It's pure butterscotch on the nose. This barrel is reminiscent of some of the dusty bourbon produced by National Distillers in the 80's. The palate has some carryover of the toffee. There's also a nice bite of heat and black pepper. It starts to hit a fermented tobacco leaf note mid-palate. The dryness of tobacco and cloves is a good balancing act to the sweeter nose. The finish is a little short. The proof hits and tails into candied pecans.
