It takes an already girthy rye and amplifies the body and mouthfeel. In short, our Malted Rye has indeed taken sherry cask aging very well in hand—and arguably proved itself as a malt whiskey of the world.
We like to think of our 100% Malted Rye Whiskey as a malt whiskey first, and a rye whiskey second. Given that malty identity, it seemed natural to give it a sherry cask finish, as often used for malt whiskeys around the world. Handcrafted Spanish oloroso and pedro ximenez sherry casks were judiciously applied. The result is a rather unique whiskey in the pantheon of sherry cask aging.
