Proof: 116.49
Mash bill: 95% rye, and 5% malted barley
Tasting Notes: The nose is rich and plump, giving a bit of sangria vibes with both red fruits and citrus in tandem, with a dense, mead-like finish.
The palate is rounded and deeply saturated, giving plenty of rich berries up front before salted watermelon, grilled peach, fried biscuits with apple butter, and lingering floral-infused honey with just a pinch of black pepper, vanilla, and rye spice.
The finish is soft and balanced, still kissed with honey, citrus, and spice before long-lasting spiced oak and plenty of juicy fruit notes.
About the product: Blue Note Bourbon has brought back its popular Honey Rye Cask, which sold out quickly last year. This follows the recent reintroduction of Blue Note Honey Cask Bourbon.
American oak barrels used for finishing were repurposed to produce barrel-aged honey. The team then returned the whiskey, which was aged for a minimum of three years, to the honey-infused casks for another round of aging to create a distinct profile. Crafted in Memphis, the new expression features a mash bill 95% rye, and 5% malted barley, which was bottled at 116.49 proof (58.245% ABV), unfiltered.
