Two New Releases From Privateer

It's time for another special release from Privateer! This time we have two new Distiller's Drawer releases. These are pre-sales and should ship to us around August 8th. Thankfully, we have worked out most of the issues we had with the first pre-sale. These are two rums you won't want to miss! We have more info on each release below.

Details: Lot 1 is our ode to the micro blend. The art of the blend is one of our greatest passions at Privateer. It allows us to celebrate the unique aspects of our casks and requires the selection of some of our finest barrels. In this blend, we aim to highlight the individual expressions and character of each rum while building a balance and complexity in order to create a spirit beyond the sum of its parts.

Tasting notes: Include honeycomb, apricots, dried pineapple, hazelnuts, pecans, black cherry, and lime leaf.

Details: Single batch release, Pot Stilled, 100% Molasses

Matured: Rested in a single stainless steel cask

Proof: 126 proof

Distiller’s Notes: The Unshakable Kate Perry joined us at Privateer Rum on March 12th, 2020 and spent the day working side by side with our distilling team. As the North American Market Manager for Velier, she represents some of the finest rums in the world and was an important force in bringing the Velier selections of Privateer to life. On her visit, she helped run operations for distilling, making cuts and dialing in the still throughout the day to coax out top flavors. This created a batch of rum with a unique expression of the hand of the maker as her presence became part of the terroir. We asked Kate to select the final bottling proof along with our team to help create this single day, single batch distillation and capture a moment in our little rum world. When in Rum is a nod to her handle and her role in this driving, powerful, and deeply flavored spirit.

Tasting Notes: It has a pungent nose of gooseberry, lime leaf, mandarin leaf, with an undertone of green papaya, meadow grass, and a hint of white rose. The palate is warm and luscious with smokey undertones, black vanilla bean, tangy grapefruit flesh, pineapple peel, honeycomb, soursop, and mint blossoms.
