Nashtucky Returns🥃

There is some sort of magic in the air when we go down to pick barrels from Nashville Barrel Co. It feels like we've had a steady stream of hitters over the last two years, and that does not stop today. Nashtucky has been one of the harder brands to keep in stock, and after the response to our last 6-yr rye and 9-yr bourbon, we knew we had to stock up.
Â
NBC continues to put out some of the best products of any NDP we feature here at Seelbach’s. After nearly every NBC and Nashtucky release sold out, we went back for more.Â
Â
As much as I loved our last 6-yr, 100% Kentucky rye, it was still a surprise to see it disappear so fast. Today’s barrel takes their flavor profile in a different direction: it opens with bright, lively notes but quickly deepens into darker, clinging earthy tones more often found in Indiana ryes with 11+ years of age. A truly unique rye drinker’s rye.

Â
Nashtucky 6-Year 130.08 Proof Single Barrel Rye #10065
From the first nosing, you can tell this rye is something unique.
Â
Crisp Granny Smith gives way to baked apple and finally Dutch apple pie, layered with dense brown sugar, caramel, lemon-lime gummy rings, and aromatic baking spices. Beneath that, deep tones of sweet earth, tobacco, and leather, more often found in much older ryes, add surprising depth to an already shapeshifting pour.
Â
On the palate, bright lemon, eucalyptus oil, and fudge covered mint chocolate chip ice cream blanket the senses, before softening into vanilla mint, tobacco, and musty sweet oak that carry into the finish.
Â
It closes with rich dark berries, lingering lemon oil, licorice, and dark chocolate in a long, oily finish.
Nashtucky 9-Year 136.22 Proof Single Barrel Bourbon #5500
The nose draws you in with a mix of spiced caramel, tropical Skittles, and lemon-lime soda, with a sweet leather, oak, and sour strip candy linger. Underneath it all, there’s this really gorgeous butter cake note.Â
Â
The palate continues similarly with spiced cherries, nougat, and heavy lemon and orange oil kissed caramel tingling the front of the sips, as dark cherry, freshly brewed coffee, and chocolate continue mid palate into the finish. Â
The finish starts to reduce all the flavors down as vanilla cola concentrate, candied apple, and spiced oak linger long and thick.Â
