Mythology
|Mythology was founded in 2018 by three friends that seek out experiences through travel and adventure. Their passion is to bring people together, hear and share stories while enjoying whiskey, gin and cocktails. Everyone forms their own Mythology through travel, making connections and experiences and that is why they named the company Mythology. They've gained national recognition for their blending expertise. Their goal with each blend is to create a whiskey that is interesting, unique and where the sum of all parts is greater than each individual component.
Their Rackhouse in Steamboat Springs, CO sits at an elevation of 6,725 ft. above sea level. There is a natural spring running under the property, and they designed the Rackhouse with an earth floor to pull moisture from the ground and create natural humidity in the range of 70% to 90% inside the building compared to an average humidity of 35% outside. They have a sophisticated low frequency sound system in the building to use sonic aging during winter months that agitates the whiskey and influences wood interaction during winter months when the ambient temperature in their ski resort community is too low to create pressure inside the barrel naturally.
Mthology Best Friend Bourbon starts with a 5 YR. aged MGP 36% Bourbon establishing a foundation of delicious caramel, vanilla and rye spice. Our blend then incorporates a 15 yr. aged Kentucky Bourbon that contributes tobacco, mature oak and a peanut dust to the finish. A younger Bourbon is then blended that provides for cornbread and rich honey notes. Best Friend Bourbon has been awarded with a Double Gold from San Francisco World Spirits Competition as well as additional golds medals from other competitions recognizing its exceptional quality and uniqueness.
The nose is nougat and honey on the front before sweet, fresh, almond croissant.
The palate pops with spices before growing toffee and plenty of dried dark fruits. It moved into toasted vanilla, tobacco, and charred oak on as it continues.
The finish lingers with dark fruit, spices, toasted vanilla, and plenty of nutty oak.

Mythology’s Thunder Hoof Rye is an exceptional 10 Yr. Aged MGP 95/5 Rye that is consistently recognized as one of the top Rye Whiskies from 2023. The Rye Whiskey was sourced for a future blend and the team at Mythology decided the Whiskey was too exceptional on its own to blend with other whiskies. Instead, Mythology aged the whiskey for an additional 4 years in their Rackhouse and has crafted 8 blends using the same product to highlight different tasting notes within each barrel. Batch #2 was provided to Seelbachs. Batch #2 provides initial floral, oak and subtle mint on the nose that transitions to a round and sweet palate of heavy caramel, charred oak and rye grain. A delicious vanilla custard, baking spices and cooked sugar on the finish.
Mythology Hell Bear American Whiskey is a blend of straight Rye Whiskey with two Straight Bourbons. The goal of this blend is to highlight the exceptional rye character and spice of the 95/5 Rye while blending in two Bourbons that add complimentary caramel and a lasting vanilla finish. Incredibly unique and one of Mythology’s most award-winning Whiskey Blends that has received Double Gold from San Francisco, Platinum at SIPS among multiple additional Gold medals.
