Bardstown Fusion Series 9 & Green River Wheated Bourbon|
We've got a mix of Blender and Distiller today! As most of you know, Bardstown Bourbon Co. acquired Green River in 2022. Since then Green River released their first wheated bourbon. I noted the original Green River bourbon as one of the best values on Seelbach's. After tasting the wheated bourbon, this may be the new King of Value Bourbon. It's sweet and soft. A nice touch of spice and honey roasted almonds. It's hard to find a better wheated bourbon that's 4 to 6-years old for $38! After being featured in Forbes Whiskey of The Week Green River is making a run to be the new wheated bourbon on every shelf.
Now onto Fusion Series #9. Bardstown has improved with each Fusion release. After #5, they hit a stride. The Fusion Series is a combination of older, sourced whiskey and Bardstown Bourbon Co. distillate. Series 9 is the best combination of old and new I've seen. The sum is greater than the parts. The flavors don't feel at all disjointed. The butterscotch sweetness marries with the bright fruit forward notes. Blending barrels from different ages is tough. They often clash between the different flavor profiles. This is another incredible example of blending from Bardstown.
