Tasting Notes: The nose is rich, perfumed antique oak - underlying with plump grape soda, biscoff cookies, and brown sugar with lingering nips of lime, raw sugar, butterscotch and powdered donuts. Buttery, fragrant, and sweet. Repeated pours or continued rest in the glass only grows more caramel sauce.
The palate has loads of elegant oak on the palate, while still having lots of creamy grape and cherry notes, gentle spice, and balanced brown sugar. While always controlled, repeated sips continue to expand the fruit and spice in a rich, rounded way.
The finish is long and silky, giving light nods to tobacco and aged leather but continues with sweet oak, spiced vanilla cream soda, and fresh brioche.
Seelbach's Story: O.K.I. is no stranger here on Seelbach's, but it's been some time since we've seen age statements on their products like we have on this barrel. When O.K.I. first started gaining their following years ago it was from 10+ year old MGP whiskeys like our bourbon and rye single barrels we had last year, but they were the talk of many last year when their oldest ever release and first Kentucky Straight Bourbon hit the market. Now, we take that one step further with this special 16-year Single Barrel Kentucky Bourbon.
