Foursquare Rum Distillery Penultimus

About the product: A 15 year double maturation single blended rum, distilled in both the copper double-retort pot still and the continuous twin column coffey still of foursquare. This release was aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels, and then transferred into Ex-moscatel barrels for an additional 5 years. 

Tasting Notes: 

Nose: Rich aromas of dark chocolate, black tea, and toasted coconut are complemented by Medjool dates, gingerbread, and caramelized orange peel. It finishes with a delicate, vinous sweetness.

Palate: Thick, oily, and full-bodied. The flavor melts on the tongue with ripe pineapple, golden melon, and deep caramel, elegantly balanced by bittersweet dark chocolate, baking spices, and the gentle sweetness of the Spanish Moscatel wine.

Finish: Endlessly long and warming. The rich texture leaves behind a symphony of baking spices, dry wood tannins, and a refreshing rush of lemon sorbet.
