Tasting Notes: The nose is a sophisticated mix of creamy vanilla, saturating mixed fruit, worn leather, and sweet touches of earthiness, smelling more like a heavy-handed premium cocktail. It’s thick and tightly packed, but also carries a deep chocolate presence with perfumed oak and candied herbal notes. While we’ve had some older ryes with a lot of personality before, this one feels refined, tailored, and delicious.
The palate begins full and weighted, with a chocolate brownie note up front, followed by a dessert-driven mid-palate of silky fruit with a touch of icy, refreshing mint. It moves into a heavy, boozy cherry limeade note, continuing long with dark chocolate.
The finish is long and complex, carrying a pleasing oak note combined with fruit saturation and layered sugar and syrupy sweetness that continues the narrative of a boozy liqueur or vintage cocktail. Absolutely delightful.
