Barrell Whiskey Decade 2

The follow-up to last summer's award-winning Barrell Decade is here—and it delivers. Decade 2 is a blend of whiskeys distilled each year from 1995 to 2005, drawn from the same barrels and finished with the same techniques as the original release. Bottled at a Hazmat-strength 141.3 proof, it echoes the flavor profile that made Decade a standout while layering in something more: dried fruit, spiced chocolate, and a fuller, more textured mouthfeel.

The name comes from the build. Barrell started with 1995 barrels selected for a specific flavor profile, then blended barrels from each of the nine years that followed—every vintage adding its own contribution to a spectrum of nuanced variation spanning a full decade.

From there, secondary maturation in Spanish brandy and Hungarian oak casks brought the blend together. The Spanish brandy casks lend lush, syrupy fruit; the Hungarian oak adds deep, warming toffee and cinnamon. The result is a complex, richly finished whiskey that stands to generate every bit as much excitement as the first.
