Joseph Magnus Murray Hill Club Special Release #5

About the product: Batch #5 takes the Murray Hill Club Special Release series somewhere new, finishing Joseph Magnus's blended bourbon in white ice wine casks. The Special Release line launched in 2018 as a showcase for the blending and finishing skills of Master Blender Nancy Fraley, and every batch has tried a different finish. Past releases have used Pineau des Charentes, cider and malt casks, and, for Batch #4, fresh Calvados casks from the lower Normandy region of France. Ice wine is a new direction for the series. The wine is made from grapes that freeze while still on the vine, so the pressed juice comes out concentrated and very sweet, balanced by high acidity. That should give Batch #5 a brighter, honeyed, orchard-fruit lift on top of the well-aged bourbon base the series is known for.

Tasting Notes: Features aromas and flavors of honey, butterscotch, toffee, vanilla, brown baking spices, and charred oak with a warm, peppery finish.
