We have another grab bag today from Old Carter and Binder's Stash, all first come, first served.
We'll start with the seventh distributor exclusive for Prestige LeDroit, Old Carter Whiskey Co. Very Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey DC-7.
Producing 1123 bottles and distilled in Indiana, DC-7 is a blend of 10 and 11 year Straight Bourbon Whiskey at 118.4 proof using minimal secondary oak. As always, barrel strength and unfiltered.
Nose: Sweet-forward, with crème brûlée, peaches, Bananas Foster, caramel custard, and lightly spiced notes. Soft pretzel, chocolate-covered peanuts, toasted marshmallow, light brown sugar, cider donuts, and a touch of apricot eau-de-vie round things out.
Palate: Orange marmalade, dried apricot, marshmallow, and caramelized cinnamon lead into rich custard, brown sugar, and ripe peaches. Dark fruit and black plum add depth to an otherwise pleasantly sweet palate.
Finish: Spiced sugar, green apple, cinnamon, and white pepper transition into white peach, subtle toasted notes, and spiced pecans. A remarkably dynamic, long finish that disguises the proof exceptionally well, with lingering sweetness complemented by persistent spice.
Next up are the last few bottles remaining from Binder's Stash Willett Experimental Barrel #38494, selected by Southern Smoke Bottle Club. This bourbon comes from Rickhouse 1, Floor 1. It's 7 years old, features a mash bill of 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% barley, and its ground-floor position means more humidity and gentler temperature swings than barrels higher up, contributing to a softer expression despite its potent 126 proof. Non-chill filtered, with no water added.
Baking spices, cinnamon, honey, and citrus, with a well-balanced structure that drinks easily for its proof.
