It's hard to use the expression 'we saved the best for last' when we release barrels from NBC, as there really is something for everyone. That said, if you love big flavor, big age statements, or big proof... you're going to love this release. We knew our last 14-year rye and cognac finished bourbon likely wouldn't last long, so we queued up a few more gems.

We are back with another 21% Kelvin Indiana barrel from the 3xxx series, and these are some of my favorite barrels we get to pick. While we hit this barrel early on in the lineup, we tasted through 11 or 12 more just to make sure it stood up. It does. We also return with their hazmat Canadian Whiskey - now 34 years old and 158 proof. These never seem to last long on the site, and with good reason.  Lastly is another 20-yr Tennessee bourbon that when I first tried it, I said "This is what Maker's Mark Cellar Aged would taste like at 20-years old."

Nashville Barrel Co. #3528 9-Year Bourbon 121.64 Proof

The nose is bright yet dense, with smoked vanilla frosting, big waves of brown sugar, tart cherries dusted with powdered sugar, perfectly charred marshmallows, and a bit of black tea.

The palate pays its respects to oak right away, before giving way to a well-balanced sweetness of Vanilla Coke, Luxardo cherry syrup, honey-dipped fig, and softly spiced salted caramel with milk chocolate syrup.

The finish makes sure you don’t lose the oak, bringing plenty of sweeter oak and tobacco notes with a touch of fresh leather. It then carries into a tight pocket of dark cherry and a comforting amount of charred marshmallow.

Not too sweet and not too savory, this is a dangerous 120 proof crusher.

Nashville Barrel Co. #1435 20-Year Bourbon 130.94 Proof

This is one of the most unique Tennessee bourbons I’ve tasted.
This one only needs a minute in the glass before it starts to shift and morph.

Intense charred oak, Cheerwine, orange sherbet, and golden raisin lead on the nose before gooey Derby Pie and rickhouse funk take over.

The palate is engulfing, as I’d expect from 130 proof: peach ice cream, maraschino cherries, sweet milk chocolate, and a perfumed, mature oak that fully wraps the palate.

The pour continually saturates the tongue with semi-sweet chocolate, maple cream, sweet tobacco, and long, beautiful waves of mature oak that carry on and on and on.

Nashville Barrel Co. #272 34-Year Canadian Whiskey 158.64 proof

The nose is creamy and pillowy, with sweet nougat, silky caramel sauce, and a sugary fruit cocktail mix.

The palate drinks nowhere near its 158 proof and brings in a few more touches of oak than some of the Canadian whiskeys we’ve done in the past. It still carries its signature maple, espresso, and mascarpone, but this one is a touch more custardy and vanilla-forward, with a pinch of stone fruit that helps it drink under proof.

The finish is long and trailing, where cane sugar sweetness meets a beachside tropical cocktail.
