Fresh off the announcement of winning Best in Show Whiskey at Fred Minnick's ASCOT Awards, we have a limited supply of Lasso Motel 18-Year American Whiskey available.
Lasso Motel was a new discovery for us last year, and their lineup of both straight and finished whiskeys has been a pleasure to explore. The 18-Year American Straight Whiskey is a standout—patiently aged in seasoned bourbon barrels, this expression proves that time can indeed translate to extraordinary smoothness.
The nose is rich and nostalgic, reminiscent of Werther’s Original, offering buttery warmth layered with brown sugar, butterscotch, and crème brûlée. Hints of dry oak and fresh-baked apple pie add balance and complexity.
On the palate, it’s lively and layered: spiced vanilla custard, black peppercorn, almond extract, sparkling grape juice, dried cherry and apricot, orange peel, and a tingling Szechuan-like spice that lingers long after each sip.
The finish is long and evolving, with singed orange peel, cocoa powder, soft leathers, mature oak, and just enough toffee to round it out. It’s an exceptional example of American craftsmanship and the art of aging whiskey.
Also just restocked: Lasso Motel Darts Blend — a bourbon finished in Armagnac, Sherry, and Cognac casks. This one earned Double Platinum at the ASCOTs and Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
