Affordable Wheated Bourbon Is Back!

|

For the past four years, Seelbach's Private Reserve has been our way of bottling the best barrels we can find. Searching, blending, and experimenting until something stands out. Let’s be honest: every bourbon brand says that. So when I sat down to think about our next release, I asked myself a different question: What do I actually drink? What do I miss about the "good ol'" bourbon days?

The answer was easy. A wheated bourbon, around 107 proof, with rich character and easy drinkability. It’s what I’ve been drinking longer than anything else. I even wrote about it on my blog back in 2013—one of the first popular (and most controversial) Bourbonr blog posts I wrote. I've decided to kick that hornets nest again. But, in the best way possible. This new Seelbach’s Private Reserve is the result of more than a decade of tinkering, tasting, and chasing that perfect balance.

This release isn’t about what’s rare or expensive. It’s about what’s right. The kind of bottle you open often because it delivers every time. It’s the return of a great daily drinker. Something I hope bourbon lovers, whether starting out or deep in the game, will be as excited to pour as I am.

Tasting Notes: Roasted peaches topped with fresh whipped cream. This whiskey is a rich combination of sweetness and spice. It highlights the softness of a wheated bourbon with enough spice to add structure. Dried cherries and caramel bounce on the palate. These notes lead to baking spice and pecans  lingering on the back palate. The finish is a nice roundup from the nose and palate as notes of strawberry, toasted almonds and vanilla bean ice cream start to fade.
