Jimmy Red Cabernet Finished Single Barrel

High Wire's Jimmy Red has had an incredibly showing both last year and this year, from single barrels to their 7-year wheated expression to a delicious cask feature under Lost Lantern's label. After continuous quick sellouts, we are back again today with another special cabernet finished single barrel.

We’ve always chased what’s rare, but this barrel is a different level. What we thought was a true one-of-one turned out to be a one-of-five: a Jimmy Red bourbon finished in Cabernet barrels. We tasted our first barrel back in 2024 and fell in love. After getting that barrel in and quickly selling through, we pressed for another one. 
 
You still get that signature earthy sweetness from the Jimmy Red corn, but the Cabernet makes this rich, sweet, and some of the best whiskey on the market.

On the nose, I pick up a burst of black currants, honey, and a layer of dehydrated strawberries that give it a dried, concentrated fruit sweetness. A touch of maple sneaks in, alongside something that reminds me of rhubarb pie, sweet but still bright.
 
The palate opens bright and sweet, with dark caramel richness cut by citrus that keeps it lively. As it moves to the mid palate, there’s a spike of freshly cracked black pepper that pops. It has a velvety mouthfeel with orange marmalade spread over warm pie crust.
 
The finish ties everything together: It lingers with that mix of sweet fruit, pastry, and spice, pulling you back for another sip.
