Blue Run makes a return to Seelbach's with their latest release of Flight Series III: micro batch blends designed to explore the sensory play between bourbon & rye. Flight Series III is the first of Blue Run Flight Series to blend both Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Kentucky Straight Rye.
Shaylyn Gammon, Head of Whiskey Development & Innovation for Blue Run Spirits, approaches the crafting of these unique blends like works of art,
and the six distinct micro batch expressions in the Flight Series III are no different. Each of the six “Flights” in this release consists of no more than four barrels.
Inspired by the study of contrasts, specifically those between the sub- categories of bourbon and rye, this Blue Run limited release puts the emphasis on the beauty that emerges from the marriage of these differing liquids, highlighting the best of both flavor profiles.
“The unique challenge of blending two American Whiskey styles across four mashbills can only be recognized as a journey of discovery,” said Gammon. “Marrying decadent vanilla and honey with spice and savory components naturally results in harmonics that stand out in the nose and on the palate. But the melody created with more subtle and balanced flavors is where the true artistry of these whiskeys is revealed. Consistent with the past Flight Series releases, Series III is an expressive collection of whiskey innovation.”
