Pinhook Bourbon Vertical Series Bourbon War 8-Year

Regular price $89.99 Sale

Age: 8-year

Proof: 114.6 proof

Mash bill: 75% Corn, 20.5% Rye, 4.5% Malted Barley

Source: MGP and aged at Castle & Key

Tasting Notes: This 8-year-old bourbon has a bright nose of orange curacao, oloroso sherry, clove, and brown sugar that leads to a full palate of dark cherry, plum, cinnamon, and burnt sugar.

Seelbach's Tasting Notes:

Confectioners' sugar, maple, raspberry, date, and white grape - lots of crisp fruit sweetness on the nose without being too candied. Soft baking spices mingle with rich barrel char, burnt orange peel, and brown sugar.

Rich and coating right away, you can definitely notice the oak and barrel influence from the get-go. While less fruity than the nose, the palate is still juicy with cherry and plum, but mainly creamy and decadent with brown sugar, espresso, and chocolate.

The finish is deep and trailing, with first a touch more dry oak and tobacco making itself fully known before more of the fruit cascade over cooked caramel continues on with Neapolitan ice cream as the long linger.

About the product: Pinhook is not bound by an established flavor profile or proof, only an ethos to produce the best whiskey every vintage. The Bourbon Vertical Series provides a unique opportunity to explore the true impact of age on a whiskey—we’re following a group of 1,350 MGP barrels as they age from 4 to 12 years to experience the arc of flavors throughout the 9-year journey.
