DIY 4 is a wheated bourbon handcrafted by Finger Lakes Distilling in Burdett, NY. It’s a blend of two single barrel bourbons. Barrel 1442 is a 5-year-old bourbon with a mash bill that’s 70% corn, 20% wheat, and 10% barley malt. Barrel 1819 is a 4-year-old bourbon with a mash bill that’s 59% corn, 28% spelt, and 13% wheat malt.
The barrels were hand-selected at the distillery by Caleb Santana, Ryan Sterk, Pierre Auguste and OJ Lima. Both were dumped into barrel 1768 and blended at cask strength at a 55/45 ratio. The final mash bill is 65% corn, 13% spelt, 11% wheat, 6% wheat malt, and 5% barley malt. This batch is 104 proof and yielded 204 bottles.
Seelbach's made this project possible. He graciously invited the DIY social club, Taste Select Repeat, to collaborate with Finger Lakes Distilling to produce a superior whiskey exclusively for Seelbach’s.
