Seelbach's Tasting Notes: Toasted oak and cocktail cherries on the nose. The nose is nice and light. The palate takes a quick turn to rich and syrupy. Toasted vanilla bean and baked apples. There's a long finish of sweet oak and pepper.

Nose:
Hints of chocolate, vanilla, blackberry and raspberry, maple and oak provides for an enjoyable start to this bourbon.
Palate:
Rich notes of caramel, chocolate with spices and some sweet oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry brought out notes of vanilla. The pecan conveyed fruit and chocolate.
Finish:
Long and smooth with toasted vanilla and spice. The dried cranberry brought out the oak and spice. The pecan made the finish very long with spice, oak and chocolate. It has a true Beat Navy finish!
About the product: “Beginning as fully matured Maker’s Mark at cask strength, Private Selection is created by adding 10 custom wood finishing staves to each barrel. It’s then aged in our limestone cellar to extract a unique, flavorful taste profile. Participants in this special barrel program get their say in the selection of these wooden staves. The finishing staves can be any combination of five flavor profiles chosen especially for this program. With 1,001 possible stave combinations, each expression of Private Selection has a customized finish and taste profile that is unique, yet undeniably Maker’s.”
