Tasting Notes: This is as dark as you'll ever see a 4- to 6-year-old bourbon. Even though it's cask strength, the deep amber, almost red, hugh embodies what's to come--a whiskey that punches far above its origin and age. The nose brings forth corn pudding with a drizzle of caramel and peanut butter. The oily mouthfeel coats, while an explosion of pepper spice dominates the back palate with hints of chocolate, nutter butter, oatmeal and butter. There's a maltininess that appears toward the end, but a hint of citrus overtakes it in the long finishing stage.
Iowa's first and largest whiskey producing distillery, and one of the nation's original craft distilleries, Cedar Ridge Whiskey is authentic by nature. From their Iowa home surrounded by the world's most fertile ground, their craft honors the hardworking people of the Midwest. Each batch takes on the character of Iowa's people, land and climate.
