The Leopold Bros Three Chamber Still Rye Whiskey is the result of over 15 years of research by Todd Leopold to resurrect an important piece of American Whiskey history. Before Prohibition, Three Chamber Stills were used to extract the maximum amount of oils and aromas hidden in American grains, leading to what distillers termed “heavy-bodied whiskey.”

To the dismay of America’s best distillers, including A.P. Stitzel, the Three Chamber Still disappeared because a column still could make 100 barrels using the same amount of copper needed to make just 1 barrel of Three Chamber Whiskey. Distillery accountants eventually chose finance over quality, and the Three Chamber Still disappeared entirely, until the Leopold Bros. built a new one in 2015.

This 2025 release is an 8 year old expression with rich, heady aromas of peanut shell, maple syrup, and cocoa nibs followed by deep fruited notes like plum, cherries, fig, and orange marmalade. The finish lingers long with floral notes that are the hallmark of Three Chamber Rye: lavender, rose, elderflower, and chamomile.

This year’s edition is bottled in 200ml flasks, both hearkening to the history of American whiskey and to send modern drinkers a clear message: put this bottle in your pocket, bring it to your favorite location, and drink it with a friend.
