t8ke x Seelbach's x Driftless Glen
|Today, we release two special barrels. These barrels were initially selected by T8ke form T8ke.review. He had planned an exploratory trip to Driftless Glen. Then he sent me a sample of his favorite bourbon and rye barrel. After tasting them I realized we needed them both! Below is his recap of the day. Make sure to check out the full post here. This is my favorite line "I came suspicious, left impressed."
Hi there folks, t8ke here, from t8ke.review.
Late in December, I took a day to visit Driftless Glen in Baraboo, WI. I hadn't tried any product from Driftless before and I wanted to change that. Driftless is pretty accommodating and asked if I wanted to stop by and pick some bourbon or rye shortly after Christmas, just a couple weeks away. Blake was ready to purchase some more stock for Seelbach's, so it made perfect sense. I'd truck up, spend a day finding a good barrel and have it bottled and sold through Seelbach's in preparation for r/bourbon's 2020 selections. If there were good barrels, Driftless would make the cut for the Reddit panel to return in the spring.
While I've helped pick many barrels, single casks, etc before - this was my first solo selection. I'm pretty excited to get to announce bringing you both 't8ke x Seelbach's Single Barrel Bourbon' and 't8ke x Seelbach's Single Barrel Rye'.
My plan was to bring home either a bourbon or a rye, hoping for a good rye. What I ended up with, however, was a bit more. I spent the day tasting and touring with Max, one of Driftless' Master Distillers. At the end of the day, I found a rye I really liked, and a bourbon I was over the moon for.
