Blue Note Juke Joint remains one of our most highly recommended bourbons for those seeking exceptional value at a higher proof. In our opinion, a well-selected bottle of Blue Note can easily hold its own against higher-proof offerings from Buffalo Trace. We've been fortunate to work with some outstanding single barrels and private blends over the years—but as always, the good ones don't last long. We are back today with our second Blue Note Rye single barrel, as well as a brand new high corn mash bill bourbon.
Blue Note Juke Joint Single Barrel Bourbon 117.6 Proof #22750 - Selected by Seelbach's
The nose begins with salted maple and creamy vanilla before worn leather and balanced, slightly damp oak. The longer it rests it transitions into honey, sweet mint, and a touch more antique wood.
The palate is coating - creamy vanilla, caramel sauce, and brown sugar exploding into fruit pie with a lovely oak presence accompanying.
Spiced cherry cola notes grow on the palate with a menthol-like cooling sensation as it lingers, never forgetting those lovely damp oak notes sprinkled with a dash of pepper and lasting shortbread and caramel.
Blue Note Juke Joint Single Barrel Rye 119.4 Proof #20056 - Selected by Seelbach's
A juicy and aromatic nose reminiscent of Premier Drams, Still Austin, and other favorites from last year. Dark honey, fresh cedar, and lime candy - the longer it rests the wider the notes spread, moving into blueberries, spearmint, and toffee.
The palate is big apple and caramel, lingering with spiced candy and a bit of musty oak. It’s perfumed and bright to start, but remains a rye drinker's rye with its transition to dried dark fruits, pine, molasses, and pepper.
The finish continues with mixed berry pop tart, toasted lemon peel, clove, and balanced oak.
