While most of our releases with 13th Colony have gone out as lottery, we are excited to announce their newest limited release today as first come, first served. Introducing 13th Colony Barrel Symphony Composition No. 1.

This marks the first ever bourbon and rye blend from 13th Colony, composed of 87% straight bourbon aged 6 years and 13% straight rye whiskey aged 7 years. Bottled at cask strength and coming in at 116.2 proof, Composition No. 1 brings together the rich sweetness of mature bourbon with the added spice, structure, and depth of rye whiskey.

The result is a unique new chapter for 13th Colony. It still carries the bold, full-flavored profile fans have come to expect from their limited cask strength releases, but with a different kind of balance and complexity.

As with most 13th Colony limited releases, we do not expect this to last long.

The nose is plush and creamy, opening with soft peach and apricot, watermelon Jolly Rancher, and layers of maple syrup before moving into semi-sweet chocolate and honeyed sweet oak. Underneath, the rye begins to poke through, lightly herbal but candied, never overtaking the sweeter honeyed notes.

The palate is perfectly punchy, think French toast sticks dipped in maple syrup meeting this nectary peach and plum fruitiness, while balanced candied spices continue to ramp up, dancing along the sides of the tongue. Deeper notes of blueberries tumbled in dark chocolate, candied lemon peel, and orange marmalade continue to build.

The finish continues with vanilla sweet mint and blackberry cobbler, as buttery cornbread and a dash of black pepper carry into a long, warming linger.
