It's always exciting to see a project come to life. The Four Gate barrel program started with a call to Four Gate team in the summer of 2020. I was pushing hard for a private barrel. They finally gave in last year! Thanks to that, Four Gate has been gracious enough to let us select multiple barrels this year.
For todays release we have two barrels. The 7-year Kentucky Bourbon is no slouch! It's syrupy and well-balanced. Plus, the rumored source blew my mind. The rye is excellent as well. I don't believe mint and herbal profiles pair well with toasted barrels. It's taste like vanilla mint gum I accidently bought one time. I tasted through a lot of samples but finally found a 9-year rye that was fruit and spice forward.
