Chattanooga Experimental 044 - Limecello

|

We always look forward to Chattanooga’s Experimental Series, but we especially love their 'cello releases. Batch 044 Bourbon Barreled Limecello is the third in the lineup, following Batch 032 Limoncello and Batch 040 Citracello. We’ve also secured an allocation of their Top Secret Batch Alpha. Both are limited, and we don’t expect them to stick around long.

Batch 044: Bourbon Barrel Limecello

Infused just in time for summer, our Bourbon Barreled Limecello marks the third rendition in our ever-evolving “cello” series. Made with our signature "Barrel 91" mash bill - and over 130 pounds of citrus peel - our fruity and floral white whiskey served as the perfect base for a lengthy 2-week infusion of lime peel, lemon peel, and galangal root. Crafted from only real ingredients, this vibrant yet decadent bourbon barreled liqueur is the perfect alternative to a pre-built margarita. Just add ice, a splash of club soda, and a salt rim!

Key lime, whipped cream, graham cracker crust - the nose is sweet and buttery, yet crisp and citrusy.

The palate is an explosive lemon-lime party like Starry syrup concentrate. More tart than sweet before a pleasant, spiced finish.

Zesty, crisp, and quick to fade, ready to go in for another sip.

Batch Alpha: Intergalactic Comet Crusher

Infused with at least 42 botanicals, Chattanooga describes Batch Alpha "like having your brains smashed out by a bag of lemons dipped in 42 karat gold."

In the summer of 2015, a craft of unknown origin crash-landed on the roof of the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery. Among the wreckage: a malfunctioning android, blueprints for an intergalactic highway (straight through Earth—don’t panic!), and a glowing green bottle labeled:

“Intergalactic Comet Crusher”

Unable to resist, our distillers took one sip and unanimously agreed it was the best drink in existence. Now, after 10 years of top-secret reverse engineering (and some light time travel), we officially declassify and disclose this extraordinary spirit to the universe.

Dense and creamy, this one has plenty of citrus oils but a vanilla sweetness to boot.

The palate is expansive, layered with citrus to spice to sweetness and back to spice again. Lemon is forward on the palate, but theres so much more going on than that, still with a plump, rounded mouthfeel.

The finish is surprisingly long, dancing with lots of citrus and spices.

Chattanooga Whiskey has long been known for their experimental and limited edition releases. They've dedicated a separate distillery location for testing new products and finishes. Their flagship products already push the boundaries of bourbon with their Tennessee High Malt mash bills. The experimental releases take it one step further, and that is why we love them at Seelbach's.
