“This is exactly why we travel around the country, and we buy random bottles of whiskey, and we try to find interesting things because every once in awhile when you think you’ve tried everything, you come across something like Broad Branch…Probably my favorite distillery right now.”  - TJ/Brewzle

We'd have to agree. When we first introduced Broad Branch to the site last July we were blown away by the quality of their whiskey. Since then their offerings haven't last long on our site, and with good reason. I recently featured their Rye Fidelity in a video on Four of My Favorite Ryes Right Now, as well as a substitute for Tanyard Hill Rye, ultimately landing at #3 on my Rye Whiskeys of the Year for 2025.

Today we are excited to release three new experimental releases of Broad Branch: Double Oak Big Winston Bourbon, Rye Fidelity Rum Barrel Finished, and Rye Fidelity Aged in a Honey Conditioned Barrel.

Broad Branch's first Double Oak Bourbon starts with their signature ultra low rye Big Winston Bourbon Recipe, aged 7 years and 10 months in new American charred oak before finishing for 3 months in a toasted new American oak barrel.

The nose is Turkish coffee meets bananas Foster meets dried leather. Big, present, woody, and dry.

The palate continues those notes from the nose, bringing in dried cherry and gobs of smoked leather. After it all, there’s a deep, resonant, date-cookie-like chewiness to the palate, nips of ginger, and a thickness that sticks to the sides like peanut butter.

The finish is medium in length with lots of chicory, coffee, and chocolate, plus a long, lingering, intense note.

The first release from Broad Branch Barrel Finished Rye series kicks off with their 100% heirloom prairie rye mash, aged 8 years in new American charred oak before finishing for 3 months in freshly dumped Sungrazer 6-year rum barrels.

The nose begins with a bit of cocoa powder dusting on tiramisu and subtle fig jam, with a touch of savoriness like fresh leather mixed with simple syup.

The palate opens with creamy toffee moving into brown sugar, with a flick of coffee and cocoa powder again before resonant notes of cinnamon and damp oak emerge with a touch of peach rings.

The finish brings in Thin Mint cookies and dark chocolate brownie batter, while the 100% rye makes itself well known, with a coating of sugar cane.

Broad Branch's non-traditional aging series continues with their 6 year 100% heirloom prairie rye distillate aged in a honey conditioned barrel. The reward of this unique process is a golden-hued, multi-dimensional stunner. In a world dominated by new oak flavors, this one is a welcome departure.

The nose opens with notes of vanilla, honey, toasted rye, graham cracker, and freshly squeezed orange.

The palate leads with lemon-lime meets coconut meets warm vanilla, followed by a gorgeous sweet oak that lingers on.

The finish fizzes: orange cream soda meets blue raspberry Pop Rocks meets vanilla ice cream, with a long, sweet, honeyed finish.
