In just a little over a year, Bourbon de Luxe has become one of the most talked-about labels in our whiskey conversations. We’ve seen the release of several batches of their 8-year bourbon, a standout 16-year expression, and even a unique 7-year rum-finished release. Today, we’re excited to offer something entirely new for the brand and a true milestone in its history: one of the first single barrels ever released under the Bourbon de Luxe name.

As independent bottlers, Rolling Fork Spirits has revived this historic Kentucky bourbon brand that traces its roots back to the early 1900s. Bourbon de Luxe survived Prohibition after being acquired by the R.E. Wathen Co. in 1926 and later became part of the American Medicinal Spirits Co. portfolio in 1927. Its return in 2024 follows the original Wathen family motto created in 1788, honoring tradition while reintroducing the brand with a thoughtful, modern approach.
This release marks the first single barrel expression in Bourbon de Luxe’s 100-plus year history.
Each barrel was aged for six years in new charred American oak and selected directly from the Bourbon de Luxe warehouse. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon sports a mashbill of 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley.
Rich, candied red fruits lead into cinnamon-spiced apples and expressed orange peel, followed by buttery toffee and a slightly fragrant, perfumed sweet oak.
The palate opens with honied oak and soft, sweet leather, moving into spiced toffee, candied orange peel, and nougat.
The finish shifts from orange peel into deeper orange bitters and simple syrup, with a tropical cocktail of pineapple and maraschino cherry emerging before a lingering spiced cream note.
