Proof: 95 proof
Mash bill: C78/R13/W0/MB09
Tasting Notes:
Visual: Amber, medium viscosity, legs,
Nose: Orange, caramel, vanilla. Very nice amount of oak for a 10 year. The nose is refined, nothing outside of what one should expect from 10 year Kentucky bourbon.
Palate: Little more of the orange from the nose, like candy orange slices. Despite the candy notes, it’s got a tartness to it, probably from the oak tannin present in this aged whiskey combined with the malted barley.
Finish: Very nice oak and some barrel char from those 10 years of age. The orange slice is gone, but the candy continues with a final transition to those strawberry hard candies that every grandmother had in her purse. And it lingers. This is a unique pour given the mash bill and age, but the notes that are present are good. It’s got many of the refined qualities of an older whiskey with good viscosity, color, nose, and oak. But this candied orange note brings in a pop of brightness to surprise you.
