About: This is a ten year old, MGP, 36% rye mash bill and aged in Seguin Moreau cooperage. You're probably familiar with the campus down at MGP - the barrels were aged in Warehouse N, a historic, multi-story brick building originally constructed by Seagram's. It's right next to Tanner Creek, so that proximity to the water delivered a nice level of humidity during the warmer months. We brought these Seguin Moreau barrels up to our cellar in Michigan about a year ago, where humidity levels are controlled and monitored daily by our Head Blender. These are single barrels, no finish, cask strength.
Tasting Notes: The bourbon starts softly, with a light aroma of toasted marshmallow, baking spices, and caramel accented by a waft of dark fruits. Dark cherry and pie crust land softly on the palate, followed by caramel and aged oak. Baking spices, leather, a touch of allspice, and light red fruits round out the sip, which leaves a lingering sweetness. This bourbon is a smooth sipper and beautifully balanced throughout.
