Wilderness Trail Private Barrel
|We're back with another Wilderness Trail barrel. This one may be my favorite barrel selection of 2020! We did this barrel pick live with Dr. Pat Heist and Macauley Minton from Wilderness Trail. You can watch the video below. Dr. Pat is one of my favorite people to talk to in the bourbon industry. His depth and knowledge is incredible. It's definitely worth checking out.
Barrel: 53-Gallon 15E31-1 Kelvin Char #4
Rickhouse: A-N6C5
Yeast Strain: FermPro 1
Proof: 115
Age: 5-Years
Bottle Count: 144
Mash bill: 64/24/12 Corn/Rye/Malted Barley
Tasting Notes: This opens will traditional bourbon notes. Lots of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon. Then on the palate it takes off! Huge dried fruit. Apricots, dates, honey, dried cherries. It moves to a finish on almond and buttered toast. Really a fantastic pour and amazingly soft at 115 proof.
