We have our first single barrel in from Angel's Envy. I mentioned this in the weekend email, but I’ve loved this brand since 2013. That’s when their first cask strength version won “Best Spirit in the World” by Spirit Journal. Now, most people know about them. Coming off their Bottled-in-Bond release last year and a steady stream of annual cask strength releases as well as unique limited finishes, we are excited to have a barrel of our own. Whether you've been a long time fan of Angel's Envy or never tried them, you'll enjoy this private select. This thing smells like dessert and drinks like a Manhattan.
Fresh flapjacks and maple syrup all over the nose. Sweet and fragrant with plum, cherry, and cranberry fruits, but then lingering with sweet cinnamon buttery and this lovely tequila-like pepperiness. Beautiful.
The palate is a pleasant balance of warm oak and deep fruitiness. The proof is perfect - easy on the tongue with a comfortable amount of spice. There’s a vanilla creaminess, but more mulled wine continuing on.
The finish is long lasting, trailing with dense fruit as the spices continue to grow more prominent, but never too much, well into the long finish.
