Old Forester Barrel Strength Single Barrel

When we introduced the Seelbach’s Heritage Collection in April 2024, the goal was simple: create space for the producers who helped define the whiskey landscape we enjoy today. Since then, we’ve continued to add thoughtful selections from those heritage distillers and blenders, and it’s been clear that many of you appreciate having those releases gathered in one place.

If memory serves, our last Old Forester single barrel was back in 2024 and didn’t make it out of PRO. I’ll usually tell you I prefer the 100 proof single barrel expressions over the barrel strength versions, but this one carries that flat cherry cola profile I loved in last year’s Watershed Affogato pick, and I know many of you do too.

Warm wood leads the nose, with plenty of caramel, butterscotch, and graham cracker layered with gooey vanilla, gentle oak, and pineapple upside-down cake.
 
The palate begins like a sweet pastry, think a fresh, warm almond croissant with heavy almond paste and cherry cola. Lovely caramel carries through alongside maple-leaning oak. The proof tingles on early sips, but as it rests, it begins to mellow.
 
The finish is plush with vanilla cream and a return to that syrupy cherry cola from the palate, ultimately lingering long with sweet, spiced, mature oak.
