Lost Lantern stands out not only for the whiskeys they bottle, but for the mission they embody - one that mirrors our own at Seelbach’s. They champion small, unique distilleries across the U.S., curating releases that prove just how wide and deep the world of American craft can be. Today we're celebrating their 5 Year Anniversary with a special anniversary release, and a new single barrel selection for Seelbach's.

Lost Lantern Single Barrel Balcones Corn Whiskey 130.2 proof
Balcones is a true pioneer, not just in Texas Whiskey but across the board. Their unique releases have proven both that Texas is a serious spirits region and that great whiskey can be made in entirely new ways. Their experiments with mashbills, barrel finishes, barrel sizes, and new techniques have helped break new ground in American whiskey, and Lost Lantern is always excited to work with them. This single barrel was made from 100% Texas-grown blue corn and was aged in a used oak cask for 4 years in the Texas heat. The result is a rich, viscous example not just from Texas, not just for a corn whiskey, but for showcasing blue corn as well.
The nose is low toned and grounding, with full on s’mores vibes, from graham cracker to milk chocolate to marshmallow. Slightly juicy, with sweet pecan pie continuing on.
This is an All-American Breakfast on the palate. Viscous and syrupy, it gives hefty savoriness, pretty florals, and chewy maple sweetness all at the same time.
The finish is long lasting and coating, with deep, dark blueberry and blackberry notes, a resonate dark chocolate presence, and smokey maple continuing long.
For Lost Lantern's 5 year anniversary, they are looking back at how the industry has changed over five years by recreating the first single cask collection they ever did. This special anniversary drop features four single casks from the same four distilleries they launched with back in 2020, now older, deeper, bolder, and more flavorful than ever.
Santa Fe Spirits Mesquite-Smoked New Mexico Single Malt
Lost Lantern's very first single cask was a mesquite-smoked single malt from Santa Fe Spirits. This special single cask, released for Lost Lantern’s fifth anniversary, returns to the distillery with a cask twice the age of the first one. Made from 100% malted barley, 30% of which was mesquite-smoked, this 6-year-old American single malt has notes of warm, citrusy smoke and tangerines on the nose. The palate is complex, with candied orange and dark chocolate notes balanced by a warm and welcoming smoke.
Cedar Ridge Iowa Bourbon
The first bourbon Lost Lantern ever released came from Cedar Ridge. This special single cask, released for Lost Lantern’s fifth anniversary, returns to the distillery. Made from 74% Iowa-grown corn, 14% rye, and 12% malted barley, this was aged for 5 years in a new oak cask. The rich, spicy nose has hints of apple and marshmallow. The palate is full and creamy, with balanced spice and oak and notes of apple and cherry pie. Fresh and spicy.
New York Distilling Co. Rye Finished In An Apple Brandy Cask 9 Years Old
Lost Lantern's first rye single cask was an apple brandy-finished rye from New York Distilling Co. This special single cask, released for Lost Lantern’s fifth anniversary, returns to the distillery with a much older look at the same style. This 9-year-old rye whiskey finished in an apple brandy cask has notes of leather, dried lemongrass, and spicy rye richness on the nose. The palate bursts with juicy apple freshness, with notes of gala apple balanced by warm rye spice, mint chocolate chip bar, and apple strudel. Big, fresh, and juicy.
Ironroot Republic Texas Double Barrel Bourbon
The most sought-after cask in their first release was an Ironroot Republic corn whiskey. This anniversary single cask is an homage to that release. Our first double-barrel bourbon, this was made from 60% yellow dent corn, 30% Bloody Butcher corn, 5% Floriani Flint corn, and 5% Elbon rye. It was aged for 3 years in a 65-gallon new oak barrel, then rebarreled for a year in an identical cask. The nose has hints of roasted corn and charred fruit. The palate bursts with notes of vanilla, black raspberry ice cream, and rich oak.
