Doc Swinson's Bossa Nova & Garryana Exploratory Casks
|
If you've been around Seelbach's for awhile, you are likely no stranger to Doc Swinson's nor their portfolio of exploratory cask finished bourbons. Both of these new products take blends of 36% and 21% MGP Bourbon and finish additionally in Brazilian Amburana casks in the case of Bossa Nova, and local Oregon Garryana casks in the case of Garryana. If you've yet to try a whiskey finished in Amburana yet, the team at Doc Swinson's would say it is the secret sauce that fills the gaps with cinnamon spice and sweetness, making for a well-rounded whiskey that transports you back to fresh snicker-doodles and cinnamon buns right out of the oven. Found in Doc Swinson's backyard, Garryana oak grows primarily in the Pacific Northwest from northern California to southern British Columbia. It's a rare wood to be used in the maturation of spirits due to its difficulty to cooper, similar to french oak in structure with with richer and darker elements like American white oak. The results are generally a slightly darker, more intense flavor to those commonly found in whiskey. |
